Casillero del Diablo Wineries
Looking for a new way to protect his treasure, Don Melchor Concha y Toro turned to Chilean folklore. Knowing how superstitious the townspeople were and how much they feared otherworldly phenomena, he spread the rumor that strange nocturnal events were occurring in his wineries that could only be explained one way: the devil dwelled in his cellars.
Fueled by the locals' imagination, every sound, echo, shadow and shape added more value to the story. Quickly, the rumor became a legend and the bottles stopped disappearing.
